as for me it's started exactly when Empyrean Age (aka Dysprosium Age) expansion was resleased. before that, in Trinity i didnt have such problems!
CCCP has changed something. probably in settings (maybe if you dont have top-notch connection you are in world of troubles, i dont know). but the truth is
I HAD ZERO/NONE/NULL/ZIP LOG IN/CONNECTION PROBLEMS BEFORE!
it's YOUR FAULT, CCCP! stop dodging this ISSUE and finaly solve it, f-f-s!

CCP not going to do anything about it?
I'm sure 24 pages would get your attention now...
ORLY?
204 pages
here you have 204 pages (sic!) and as you can see, ccp dont give a **** about it. maybe when we'll reach 300 pages limit someone will do anything about it?
fingers crossed :]

Originally by: Johren Oddly enough, ping plotter shows much better results through that telecity hop after the expansion than before, but I'm still getting the occasional socket closed disconnects.
I got fed up with it Saturday night when I lost all 5 of my deployed Hammerhead II drones. I'm tired of having to buy those things back due to no fault of my own so this time I sent in a petition and asked for them to be replaced. Surprisingly the next day the replacement drones were sitting in my hangar. At least that went smoothly, though this would be much easier if the problem wasn't happening in the first place to all of us.
ORLY?
i guess it only works for Hammerheads cause when i petition my n-th lost of Wasps t2... this is what i got instead :
"Hello.
I am sorry to hear about your loss. Unfortunately we are unable to reimburse this loss as our server-side logs do not indicate that a bug/error within the game or a server related problem was the reason for your loss. This does not mean that I doubt your description of events in any way but I'm afraid it keeps my hands tied in regards to reimbursement. Our reimbursement policies are very strict and I can only reimburse if I am able to verify that a bug or server error caused the loss. I hope that you understand our position and that you will recover swiftly from the loss.
Best regards,
GM GuruShura EVE Online Customer Support "

Originally by: Aleksei Valenkov I've been having this Socket Closed issue ever since Apocrypha. It happened sparsely at first then it got progressively worse. Today I've had over 10-20 disconnects in the span of an hour. It's ridiculous and it's starting to drive me nutty.
i know how to fix it... permanently :
suspend your accounts! till they fix it, prolly Soon(TM)

Originally by: Muskaos Has anyone ran logserver when this happens, and pored through the results?
I cannot stay connected for longer than 15 minutes, usual mode of disconnect is chat, loading market, etc. stops responding, and 30 seconds later, client gives up and I get comms lost message at login screen.
I can't go out and do anything with my corpmates, who are all out having fun exploring wormholes...

Originally by: Lysander Kaldenn Well my wife attempted to play Eve on my pc today while I was at work and had socket closed 4-5 times. I don't understand why it happens to her so frequently and not to me...
mate, i think it's somehow eve-region/system related. got a few chars in various regions/systems. i'm able to log in on almost everyone of them (yes, finaly i'll lose connection, but at least i'm able to switch skills)... but on of them is stuck in Cloud Ring region and it's impossible for me to log in!
damn you ccp!

Originally by: Aleksei Valenkov I've noticed that if I am in a fleet with audio enabled I will not have the socket closed problem. Also if I'm doing a mission and I notice the game has stopped displaying the damage info for attacks but is still going through the animations if I perform an action soon enough it will unhang and I will not get socket closed. If I leave it, it goes through the motions of socket connection closed. This is friggin' bizzare.
Yep. this works, I took it to a further extreme, and created a macro on the G-15 keboard that spams a "dead" shortcut key every 10 seconds, since then, not a single socket error.
my god, jesus-f-christ... cant cccp create some inside macro spamming whatever during playing to cover that fock-up called socket closed issue so we all could return to our space-business? thanks in advance.

Originally by: Death Ryder well, time for my half a cent worth, i've been getting constant disconnections for 3 days now, before and after the patch.. And it seems to be the damn telecity.ge9 server doing it with a constant 30+% packet loss and packet errors every few minutes.
I've just started a channel in game "CCP Disconnections" so anyone having same proplem join up, if there's enough people in there the bastards might start paying attention. Also maybe able to get 1 of there almighties to come in a discuss the problem to see if they are actually doing any damn thing
channel in game "CCP Disconnections"
- mate, ppl have to be ONLINE to be on that channel. it's hard to stay online while being disconnected every 3-5 mins OR when you are unable sometimes to even log in. beside that... great idea. :]

Originally by: Death Ryder thing that ****s me the most is they dont care, they'll sit there with hands out for there subscription money and blame us for the problem, i'll have to try again tomorrow to get online long enough to dock my scanner ship:(
i believe that 80/20 (Pareto principle) will apply here as well
LINK
...and since most of the accounts belong to chinese/russian isk selling/e-baying gents who will do everything but complain, things, for CCCP ofc, are still very 'OK'.

Originally by: Sareem Edited by: Sareem on 28/03/2009 13:01:50 I've had no such concerns untill last patch. Now, just like everyone else in this LONG thread, it's been impossible to play eve, dropping connection every 2 minutes or so. My conection isn't brilliant, but i've never had this much trouble.
Please do something about it... My current subscription ends next tuesday, so i'm considering taking a break until next patch. No point on paying for a game you can't play, imo.
Thanks
mate, for some, like myself, it's almost A YEAR, since that issue occured. i doubt they will fix it with next patch, really.

Experiencing that socket closed issue now as well. I'm disconnected as soon as I'm logged in with a toon (all windows are empty, etc). It started happening today for no reasons, worked fine until now, no change in network architecture at home or comp setup.
most possible CCCP answer...
'it's prolly your ISP, dude. there is nothing we can do. sorry. thanks for paying us for this crappy product. much apprieciated.

They already replied to this thread ONCE so it's unnecessary for them to reply again.
...and their reply solves... *brbrbrbbr* (/me makes Lewis Black famous noise) nothing!
Ergo... we are still waiting for an answer (either they do anything to fix this **** or they admit that no one in CCCP gives a **** about it)

Originally by: Muskaos Was able to get my laptop patched, and took it down to the library to test the connection there.
Totally different packet routing, no drops.
I'll be playing from there on the weekends; I'll at least be able to help out with corp ops.
During the week I will just skill switch and do the industrial stuff...
nice compromise. shame one has to pay for it... monthly!

Originally by: Terra Marr Hey,
I had no problems playing EVE so far. But as of today I get disconnected after 20-30 seconds when I log in.
I get the message: "The socket was closed" following by "Connection to server was lost".
I haven't changed my ISP, Router, Computer settings. Everything else works perfectly fine (other online games, and all other internet activities). EVE is the only thing having problems.
This disconnecting started happening today. I don't know why, but like I said, this never happened before nor did I change any settings.
Right now the game is unplayable. Every single time I log in, in-game windows just don't load and I get disconnected.
welcome o/ dont expect that problem to be solved soon... some have these issues for almost a year now. hey!

it only took months of people commenting on it, losing ships because of it, and now 27 pages into a thread... you FINALLY admit there is an error?
/me claps sarcastically
Now, what about the ship losses some of us have suffered due to this and been told "There is no log traffic to suggest a problem, petition closed"???
well, it's CCCP. i'll be happy IF they will solve this problem... expecting anything else would be... rude? like with a child... you're just happy 'cause that little focker stoped doing poo into his diper. everything else is just a bonus.
